Habanero Margarita

Habanero Margarita

Our take on the popular margarita, featuring a simple blend of tequila, orange liqueur, freshly squeeze lime juice and a touch of our Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero Hot Sauce. Feel free to blend the mixture to make a frozen drink, or double the amount of hot sauce for extra spice.


1 1/2 oz. silver or gold tequila (don't use anejo)
3/4 oz. orange liqueur, such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon of sugar
1/2 tablespoon Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero
Slice of fresh chile, sprig of mint or slice or pineapple (for garnish -- optional)
Kosher, rock salt or Tajin (to rim the glass -- optional)


Add the tequila, orange liqueur, Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero, sugar and lime juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Shake vigorously until the sugar has dissolved.

Taste for sweetness and spiciness levels, adjusting accordingly as needed by adding more sugar and Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero.

Wet the rim of a high ball with lime juice and roll the rim of the glass in kosher or rock salt to cover.

Pour contents of shaker into the high ball, garnish with slice of habanero or sprig of mint if desired, and enjoy.
