Habanero Margarita

Our take on the popular margarita, featuring a simple blend of tequila, orange liqueur, freshly squeeze lime juice and a touch of our Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero Hot Sauce. Feel free to blend the mixture to make a frozen drink, or double the amount of hot sauce for extra spice.

Habanero Margarita Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. silver or gold tequila (don't use anejo)
  • 3/4 oz. orange liqueur, such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
  • 1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero
  • Slice of fresh chile, sprig of mint or slice or pineapple (for garnish -- optional)
  • Kosher, rock salt or Tajin (to rim the glass -- optional)

Instructions

  • Add the tequila, orange liqueur, Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero, sugar and lime juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake vigorously until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Taste for sweetness and spiciness levels, adjusting accordingly as needed by adding more sugar and Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero.
  • Wet the rim of a high ball with lime juice and roll the rim of the glass in kosher or rock salt to cover.
  • Pour contents of shaker into the high ball, garnish with slice of habanero or sprig of mint if desired, and enjoy.
